GLOCK announced three new pistol models this morning after the German magazine, Caliber, leaked an ad in its October digital edition.
The GLOCK 45—chambered in 9mm—is essentially a model Gen5 19x with a few improvements in the design.
The GLOCK 19x was new for 2018. The 19X and now the 45 share a compact GLOCK 19 frame with the full-size grip of the G17. GLOCK calls the two pistols a “crossover.”
The brand new G45 has a typical Gen5 Rough Textured Frame (RTF) frame with no finger grooves, or front strap cut out. To many GLOCK fans’ delight, the GLOCK added front slide serrations. The mag well is flared. The rail is Picatinny-compatible, it has the standard ambidextrous slide release, GLOCK “Safe Action” Trigger and the Gen 5 magazine release. The finish is black nDLC.
GLOCK 45 Specifications:
- Caliber: 9mm
- Barrel: 7.44”
- Capacity: Standard 19 rounds
- Overall length: 7.44”
- Slide length: 6.85”

From GLOCK’s press release:
“The G45 incorporates elements of the 5th Generation of GLOCK pistols including a smoother trigger pull, an enhanced frame texture for sure handling, a reversible magazine catch, ambidextrous slide stop lever, the Modular Backstrap System (MBS) for individual adjustability and the incredibly accurate, match-grade GLOCK Marksman Barrel (GMB). The G45 also features front serrations which are precision-milled forward of the ejection port on both sides.”
There was some disappointment when the GLOCK 19X was announced earlier this year, but 100,00 were sold within six months of the pistol being on the market. Listening to consumers about the changes they wanted after the 19x’s release, we’re betting the G45 will be just as, if not more, popular.
The GLOCK 45 will hit shelves as soon as October 5th. It will make its public debut at the International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference October 6-9, 2018 in Orlando, Florida.
