If you are unfamiliar with STI, they are a smaller handgun company making custom 1911s 2011s right outside Austin, Texas. STI dominates 3-Gun competition, winning more championships than any other pistol manufacturer.

The STI Marauder 2011 was build based on 3-gun competitors’ needs.

STIl builds a solidly reliable and accurate race gun that also serve incredibly well for defense use and target shooting. They call their guns a 2011, because even though based on a 1911, STI’s guns use a double-stack magazine and have a steel upper frame and polymer grip lower. It does have a single-action trigger that measures 3.4 to 4 pounds.

The 9mm Marauder marries the best of STI’s tradition of paying close attention to detail and quality with the recommendations and demands of top 3-Gun competitors. Features include: 5.5-inch bushing barrel, one-piece guide rod with spring plug, tactical magwell, rail, and an ambidextrous safety. The Marauder has a Dawson fiber optic front sight and a tactical adjustable rear sight. The STI Marauder has lower recoil and is lighter weight than most at 41 ounces empty. It also meets USPSA and IDPA regulations.

Though the STIL Marauder has been around for a while, we can always appreciate a beautifully crafted 1911…er… 2011.
